Picklist value doesn't change when changed in a workflow

Hi There

I have a custom picklist attribute which is on a custom entity, the
picklist has been created to replace the standard status and status
reason values. When I try to change the value in a workflow the
workflow step succeeds but the value doesn't change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This appears yo be a problem with the specific attribute in question
as I cannot recreate the problem on another entity, please disregard
this post
