Change Notes or Activities of a System Entity

There must be a way to revise Notes/Activities checkboxes of a system entity.
How do I do this? I tried revising the xml file, but it doesn't work. If not,
the idea of having to recreate every single attribute, etc. is crazy. Can
someone tell me how to do this?

Thanks

Hi Bernardina,

Do you mean that you've created an entity and at the time you didn't select
the checkbox to add Notes and Activities, and now you'd like to change those
options? If that's the case, unfortunately I'm not aware of any easy way
to change it. You need to understand that when you check those boxes, the
CRM creates 10-12 new relationships between your new entity and the related
entities.

Someone else might have a workaround, but I'm not aware of any way to do
it except to re-create the entity.

This should work:

1) Export the customizations just for this entity.
2) Delete the entity.
3) Publish all.
4) Re-create the entity with exactly the same name.
5) Export the customizations just for this entity.
6) Do a diff (using Visual Source Safe, e.g.) between the first and
second files.
7) Edit the customization, xml file, and put in all of the custom
fields and such from the original file. (I believe you need to use
the new customization xml to make sure all guids still work. But all
of the attribute info should be able to be pasted in from the first
file.)
8) Import revised customization.xml file.
9) Publish.

You may want to take this slow, and just add in the attributes first,
and then add in the form elements...
Backup everything first... (no guarantees, use at your own risk, etc,
etc...) HTH,

Dave
