Merging duplicates with different owners

Our system is setup such that we have various data admins managing contacts
for a group of professionals. Those admins are cleansing data for those
professionals but since they have access to all records in the system they
see dupes across professionals. We don't want to merge those because then
the loosing professional's record will become not visible to them.

So when doing a side by side merge it would be ideal to see the owner name
on those records. Unfortunately the Owner name isn't a field that shows up
on the side by side merge (for the same reasons I assume the parent account
isn't shown). Is there any way to either get this to show up or have the
system do what it doesn when the parent customer field is different on
contacts and warns you first? Thanks

I don't think you can adjust the columns unfortunately. Your best bet
may be to include the owner field as part of the criteria for making a
match.

You say they see dupes across professionals, presumably because in some
view or other they can see the contacts and judge that they seem alike?
(you don't seem to be using auto-duplication matching by the sound of it).
While not rock solid, showing the owner column prominently in the views
they are using, plus a quick bit of user training should make this easy
to work with (and perhaps resolve by deduping just the same, but
remembering to share record A with owner of record B so they share the
new merged record)
