Hi all,
I have a live CRM installation (CRM 4 rollup 5). I have tried
exporting the customisations then reimporting them without change. The
import dialog just hangs. When I use the CRM Diagnostics tool to
enable tracing and then use the CRM Trace viewer tool, I see the
following types of error messages:

Error: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
Error Number: 0x80040217
Error Message: importjob With Id = 9a9a3175-8aa3-df11-
ad75-001d0970d6f3 Does Not Exist
MessageProcessor fail to process message 'Retrieve' for 'importjob'.
ExecutionContext not in use (OnErrorRequest) for organization {01B694DD-0F32-49D2-B8B3-5A8BEF7C82A8}
Exception in Application WebServices. See the following trace error for more information.
I have IISRESET, tried exporting system only customisations and
reimporting, I have tried exporting Custom entity and reimporting. I
have tried logging in as a different user. I have checked the roles
and permissions....

Any Ideas, I know they chould update their rollups to something more
recent, however this is a live environment with many outlook users,
blackberrys, third party apps etc. that all rely on the system as it
is now, ( if it isnt broke, dont fix it..., trouble is it IS broke..)

Please help, even if its something that you think might work..

Maybe I missed something here - what are you trying to achieve by this
export and re-import?
It sounds like you are doing something which should not result in any
change, so you obviously think it is worth it for some other reason.
If this import is not the root problem but you are having trouble using
this as a fix for some root issue, maybe it would be better to fix the
root problem first?

(oh, and I do expect you will get told to do the rollups at some point -
UR 12 just came out, 5 is WAY old!)

Believe I would love to get them updated to rollup 12... but they are
relutant to change.. Logistics of it all...

Anyways, the export and reimport I did was to prove a point that CRM
will not import any customisations, event those that have just been
exported with no changes made to them!.

It seems the import process is just hanging... The 'import progress
dialog' is displayed but the actual import doesnt take place and the
progress bar doesnt move...

I have managed to update the server rollup 11. But unfortunately this
issue still exists. Any Ideas, anyone?

Sad when you have to reply to yourself... but anyhows...
it turned out the request length in the web config was too small, as
was the timeout setting. Also a new registry key was needed. If your
interested search the microsoft KB articles for OLEDBTimeout.

Hope it helps someone out there.
