Hello Everyone, I REALLY need some help or I’m going to go insane!

I get the following error when Outlook tries to load the version 4 CRM
client: “An error occurred loading the Microsoft Dynamics CRM functionality”.
The initialization message indicates it is “Initializing MAPI sub-system”.

I have tried everything, including:
- Re-install Outlook 2003
- Upgrade from Outlook 2003 to 2007
- Delete and re-add my email account record
- And everything else recommended in every related post I could find.

The only error of any kind that I can find is in the OUTLOOKErrors.log file
which begins with: “Bucket;0x8007007e” and goes on to mention some MAPI
events.

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the input. That may have worked, but I didn't get a chance to try
it. I got around the problem (before seeing your reply) by rebuilding
Windows on the client. It was something I had been planning to do for a
while anyway.

I believe the problem was related to having the 3.0 client installed prior
to installing 4.0, so re-building the whole computer was a sure-fire way of
eliminating that problem (and it did).

Just in case any other poor soul has this problem, the above solution
did not work for me. My problem was that the user who was having the
issue was using a Terminal Server. No other users on the server had
this problem, so I could not remove XML SP2 or anything like that. I
also deleted the relevant files from Application Data\Microsoft
\Outlook to no avail.

What fixed it in the end was logging onto the TS as the domain admin
and removing the users profile from My Computer > Advanced Settings.

The nightmare is over....

Has anybody else had experience with this error? I'm facing it now and none
of the solutions above appear to be relevant. I'm running Vista logged in as
an admin with the CRM 4.0 Offline client.

I have the following error messages in the event log.

Initialization of the Microsoft CRM UI failed. Try restarting Microsoft
Outlook. HR=0x80004005. Context=. Function=CAddin::HrActivateAddin. Line=665.

The Microsoft CRM command bar could not be loaded into Microsoft Outlook.
Restart Microsoft Outlook and try again. HR=0x80004005. Context=.

try looking at Microsoft KB 911384

However, if you are like me, Office 2003 GPO is not used so the KB is useless.

Currently here is the more realistic solution;

http://www.techtalkz.com/microsoft-dynamics-crm/385178-crm-4-0-online-outlook-client-toolbar-disabled.html

I am having same issue right now, nice to know that I am not alone!

Been having a terrible time loading the CRM 4 client.
Here is where we stand.
Upgraded CRM 3 server to CRM 4 - final screen indicated a successful
upgrade.

All users accessing the CRM 4 server from the web OK.

Went to upgrade the ONLINE Client - ran into all kinds of problems.

Basic recommendations from Microsoft:

Uninstall any CRM Clients from ADD REMOVE programs

Rename the folder any folders in Programs refering to Microsoft Dynamics CRM
3 or 4.

Rename the Outlook Folder of the user that you are setting up:
C:\Documents and Folders\"USER"\Application Data \ Microsoft\
NOTE: Check for PST files before you decide to delete renamed Outlook
folder.

Go to REGEDIT
PLEASE BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY PRIOR TO MAKING ANY CHANGES
REMOVE ANY MSCRM FOLDERS UNDER KEY
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft

Check that there are no Stored Passwords on the XP or Vista User Accounts.

Control Panel - Users - Advanced - Manage Passwords

Remove any Password relating to the CRM server name or IP address.

Reboot for good measure.

Logon and install the Client.

Here is the issue I am having:

I install the CRM 4 ONLINE client successfully. Configure / run diagnostics
successfully.

When I start Outlook 2007 SP1 the tool bar goes through all the steps to
load but fails at the initialing the Outlook Interface. Get pop-up error
loading ....

This consistantly happens whether it is an upgrade or fresh install.

I logged a case with Microsoft and I must admit I am a little concerned with
the level of experience and respone I am recieving.

Anyway - I go though the steps above to reinstall the client in the OFFLINE
ADVANCED - installs sucessfully and the toolbar loads fine and seems
functional. So if you are experiencing an issue try loading the OFFLINE
client and let me know if it resolves the issue.

If any one has any input on the above and a resolution as to why the ONLINE
client is not loading successfully let me know.

I have updated Microsoft - but have not heard back for 2 days. Horrible and
scary for an ENTERPRISE product and I am paying a the fee for support.

I am still having this issue, even after deleting profiles, cleaning
registry, etc.

I have a case logged with support, and I am fully expecting the standard
"did you reboot - is it turned on" 1st response, (sorry if I sound cynical, I
got used to the excellent and timely support the old Great Plains group used
to give)

When I find a resolution I will update this post. Unfortunately I now have
3 pending upgrade projects on hold until this gets resolved.

What boggles my mind is that I *uninstalled* the CRM 3.0 client, and even
then the CRM 4.0 client still wants to "upgrade". Suppose this process even
worked as it should, how could I change a workstation client to an offline
one, if I so chose, the upgrade doesn't give me that option?

Sorry, this wasn't a helpful post. I am just ranting now.

Thanks

OK, I believe we got it resolved (with the help of MS support, giving credit
where credit is due)...

Open \Document and Settings\<<User>>\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Rename the Outcmd.dat file to Outcmd.dat.old

Reinstall or even just re-config, seemed to fix the issue on all of the
workstations so far... 20 or so more to go.

Reacting to an old mail.. I have a similar problem where a number of .sdf
files are not installed under these directories:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM\Client
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM\ABP

Anybody else have this problem - and hopefully - solve it?? It is really
busting my chops here...

Thanks
